xD READER Accelerando

xD READER is a new addition to our constellation interface, a chance to bring many points together to scan, interpret and process in 2D. Namely, xD READER is for text-based planes of expression, starting with a good old-fashioned HTML webbook. The biweekly meetings will take place on the xDISCORD exclusively. The aims are convivial and exploratory rather than pedagogical. Prior to each meeting, we'll all read the section, prepare some thoughts, and come ready for discussion and connection. The reading will always be available or made available to anybody interested for free!

Our inaugural reading will be Accelerando by Charles Stross (2005).

"What happens if this goes on? What happens if you keep piling on the changes? What kind of person can actually live on the edge of a singularity, keeping pace while all around them the world is melted down and re-forged monthly, daily, hourly?"

Charles Stross, a British science-fiction writer, devised Accelerando to try to answer these questions. Originating in his experience working at a dot-com startup in the late 1990s, the lens through which he examines humanity's relationship to exponential technology is as clear as ever.

Following three subsequent generations of families in a not-so-distant future, the novel is a series of three short stories taking place before, during, and after the technological singularity.
